Towards the end of Nate & Kristi's visit we decided to get out of the city and spend a day hiking in the Dolomites. There is a series of 52 caves dating back to World War I that were built by the Italian army with the help of miners to defend Italy from it's invaders. The caves were built in 1917 and served a means to provide lookouts in addition to assisting in combat. We drove for about an hour just to reach the start of the tunnel system. Our little green monster did really well on the trip....one never knows with that car. :)
Nate & Kristi's visit would not be complete without one more trip to a winery. We headed over to Soave for an afternoon for some wine tasting. Coffele winery is located in the historic district of Soave. The main site to see in this little town is the castle on the hill which dates back to the 1300's. The town itself is adorable and the streets lined with shops and cafes.
The pictures attached below are of the tunnels, the views and Soave. I've also included a few fun pics of us hanging out at home the last night Nate & Kristi were with us. We sure do miss them and hope they can come back and see us again next year!
